:: focus ::

...from today's walk
I finally have a word for the new year.

It only took me a month to realize I need to focus.

I'm a photographer, so I should know how to focus.

And I'm a collector....always have been.

...from a walk last fall

Plus, I've always loved things that are gritty and/or earthy & that tell stories with their colors, textures and patterns....

objects with meaning.....

objects from nature....

objects that evoke least to me.

...collected on hikes last summer

I'm forever bringing things home from hikes that find a place my home or on my work table.

 ...i can't resist shells

....and sea glass

So finally I know that my focus this year will be on nature and the many gifts it gives.  That....and all things old and crusty...things that appear to have been dug from the earth. And if I can't use the objects directly, at least they will inspire whatever I'm creating. patina applied to bronzclay

...i'm looking forward to finishing this piece

ps: formatting blogger for new posts is making me crazy. help!

that is all.

I think your work is beautiful. Love seeing your treasures and looking forward to seeing all that you create from their inspiration :)

Your blog looks great, what formatting is giving you trouble?

Hi're so kind!

re: blogger
When I add photos and attempt to get text beside's all a guessing game. I try lots of sizes and placement of them left and right...but the preview is almost NEVER like the layout when I'm putting it together. Sometimes when I add a photo down in the post, it appears at the top. Ugh. Frustrating. Plus, I'd really like to make this center portion wider, to give a little more room for the post - but when I change the widths, it throws the banner and margins way off.

And thanks so much for stopping by! :)

Regarding photos, I have similar troubles, and it is frustrating. When I want the pictures to be larger, they throw off the margins. Wish I had a suggestion or solution!

Good luck tomorrow ;)

What a lovely post, Lela. If that gorgeous necklace in the making is anything to go by, then I'm sure this theme will work well for you.
I'd love to know what goes on in the mind of Blogger when trying to add pictures!! It all seems very hit and miss, and guaranteed to draw the worst kind of language out of me!!
Yours looks perfectly fine though, so keep going!!

Ha! Thank you, Sharon...glad the comment box came back. It disappears lots of times on other blogs too...wacky stuff.

And thanks for your kind words. :)

Awww gee, Petra, you're too nice!

I've decided to let blogger do whatever it wants to do...since it's going to anyway. Ha!

Thank you, Patty! I hope I can get it finished tomorrow...too much running around today.

Try Windows Live Writer....I struggled with formatting for ever until another Blogger gave me this tip. Now I can put photos wherever I want! I just did a blog post about it. See here:
The best thing about it is that when you publish, you get exactly what you had in Live Writer. You have to ignore what the Blogger preview shows you.
It's so great not to have to tear my hair out...and waste hours trying to fix unfixable stuff..

Thanks, Claire. I finally gave up and just started posting the photos straight down the center. I'll have to see if Windows Live Writer works on a mac.
